There are some new requirements for the 2017-2018 season so please refer to the STMA website, Coaches Corner page, for everything you need to know for coaching in the 2017-2018 season. It has been updated to outline all coaching requirements. All forms and links are there and ready to use.

New USA Hockey Requirements for the 2017-2018 Season -

- MN Hockey Coach Concussion Certification – Each coach must train to concussion requirements per their applicable CEP class and age specific online modules, plus knowledge of MN Hockey Concussion Management Protocol and Requirements. There is also a link to a concussion quiz from the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) that is a great overview for identifying and managing concussions. Each coach will need to read and sign a Coach Concussion Certification form and submit to the association.

- Online Age-Specific Training Modules  -  MUST be completed for the level you wish to coach BEFORE the USAH hockey system will allow placement as a coach on a roster. The online age- specific modules for 2017-2018 are available NOW.

  • Travel Level Coaches – Please have online age-specific module completed before you step on the ice with your teams after tryouts.
  • Mite Level Coaches – Please have online age-specific module completed before opening weekend, October 7, 2017

- Current SafeSport Program Training - MUST be complete BEFORE the USAH hockey system will allow placement as a coach on a roster. For those coaches in need of a refresher, you should have already received an email from USA Hockey with an invitation to re-certify.

  • Travel Level Coaches – Please have SafeSport completed before you step on the ice with your teams after tryouts.
  • Mite Level Coaches – Please have SafeSport completed before opening weekend, October 7, 2017

- Registration for CEP classes - There is a new system for 2017-2018. You must create a new account as your old login information is no longer valid. PLEASE be consistent when registering in the new system and use the same name as previously used for CEP classes ( i.e, if you previously registered under “Joe Smith” do not use “Joseph Smith”…be consistent!)

There are only a few classes scheduled at this time while everyone works through the new system. If you are planning to take the Level 4 CEP class, there is one offering in St. Paul on
September 22-23 that is open to enroll in. Get signed up early if interested!

If you have any questions, please contact Jenny Bilicki -
